Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to give Kylian Mbappe the number 10 shirt if he arrives from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Mbappe has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu over the last few years, including the most recent summer transfer window.
The Frenchman was temporarily frozen out of the Paris Saint-Germain squad after he informed the club that he would not be triggering a one-year extension on his deal.
PSG attempted to sell the 2018 World Cup winner, but they were unable to find a viable solution, leading to Mbappe being reintegrated back into Luis Enrique's side.
With his current deal set to expire in June, Mbappe has supposedly told PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he will leave the club at the end of the season.
A subsequent report claimed that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has informed the first-team squad that Mbappe would join on a free transfer in the summer.
While Mbappe has also been linked with a move to the Premier League, the 22-year-old is seemingly set to swap Paris for the Spanish capital ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are likely to present Mbappe with the number 10 shirt if he completes a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The forward currently dons the number seven for PSG, but that number is worn at Real Madrid by Vinicius Junior, and the Brazilian is not expected to relinquish the iconic jersey.
As a result, Mbappe is set to inherit the number 10 shirt from Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Modric has struggled for a regular starting place this season, and he is likely to end his 12-year association with Real Madrid when his deal runs out in June.
Mbappe's current focus will be on finishing his time with PSG on a positive note, with the Parisians still competing on three fronts.
The France international dropped out of the side for Saturday's away clash with Nantes, before he came off the bench to score a 78th-minute penalty and wrap up a 2-0 win which leaves PSG 14 points clear at the top of Ligue 1.
Having found the net in each of his last four appearances, Mbappe has now scored a total of 32 goals in 31 competitive matches this season. body check tags ::
