Real Madrid tell Sevilla that they are prepared to pay £25.9m for Spanish defender Juanlu Sanchez, according to a report.

Real Madrid have reportedly told Sevilla that they are prepared to pay €30m (£25.9m) for defender Juanlu Sanchez during this summer's transfer window.

The 20-year-old came through the youth system at Sevilla, making 68 appearances for their second side before debuting for the first team in the Copa del Rey in December 2021.

Juanlu's La Liga debut also came in late 2021, but he did not feature at senior level in the second half of the 2021-22 campaign and spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Mirandes in the Segunda Division.

An impressive season saw him contribute two goals and five assists in 38 outings for Mirandes, and the defender then returned to Estadio Ramon last summer to compete for a first-team spot.

The right-back has been a regular this season, featuring on 20 occasions in all competitions, contributing three assists in the process.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid are huge admirers of the Spaniard and have identified him as a potential long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

The report claims that Los Blancos are willing to pay €30m (£25.9m) for him next summer, and Sevilla are unlikely to be in a position to resist an offer of that size.

Juanlu has played 12 times in La Liga this season, while he also featured in all six of his side's matches in the group stage of the Champions League.

The Spain Under-21s international has a contract at Estadio Ramon until June 2026, but Sevilla could be forced into a sale, as they are unlikely to secure European football for next season.

Carvajal remains the undisputed first-choice right-back at Real Madrid, with the Spaniard again a vital player for Carlo Ancelotti's side this season, making 18 appearances, contributing two goals and two assists.

The 31-year-old only has 18 months left to run on his contract at Bernabeu, though, and his long-term future with the club is unclear.

Lucas Vazquez is the back-up right-back at Los Blancos, but the 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of June, and it remains to be seen whether he will sign a new deal.

Ancelotti has said that his side will not be active during the January transfer window, with a new centre-back not on their agenda despite losing David Alaba for the remainder of the campaign due to a serious knee injury. body check tags ::
