Inter Milan are reportedly still interested in signing Luka Modric from Real Madrid and intend to make a formal approach at the end of the season.
Modric, who is into his eighth season at the Santiago Bernabeu, came close to joining Italian giants Inter last summer.
Madrid were reluctant to sell at the time, but Spanish outlet Sport indicates that their stance may change in six months' time.
The Croatia international will have just a year left to run on his contract at that point, potentially forcing Madrid's hand somewhat.
Zinedine Zidane is expected to strengthen his midfield ranks ahead of 2020-21, with Ajax ace Donny van de Beek and Manchester United's Paul Pogba supposedly high on his wishlist.
Modric has also been linked with a move to Major League Soccer side DC United.
