James Rodriguez has reportedly requested to end his loan spell with Bayern Munich in order to return to parent club Real Madrid.
Rodriguez is currently in the second season of his two-year loan spell at the Allianz Arena, and there is a deal in place for the Colombia international to move to the Bundesliga champions on a permanent basis.
However, according to AS, the playmaker is not enjoying his time at Bayern and would prefer to return to Real at the earliest opportunity.
The 27-year-old has made 11 appearances in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season, but the attacker is said to be unhappy with how he is being used by boss Nico Kovac.
Bayern may not opt to exercise their option to sign Rodriguez, but Real would be required to pay a fee should they wish to recall the player at the midway point of the campaign.
Rodriguez still has over two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at the Bernabeu.
