Southampton have reportedly identified Real Madrid youngster Martin Odegaard as a possible loan target ahead of the summer transfer window.
Odegaard attracted interest from a number of Europe's top clubs before moving to the Spanish capital in January, and his performances for Real Madrid Castilla have impressed the coaching staff.
According to The Mirror, the Saints sent scouts to watch the 16-year-old last weekend as they consider launching a move for the midfielder.
Southampton were linked with a bid for the Norwegian before his switch to Madrid, and Ronald Koeman could look to take him on a season-long loan if his club are keen for him to be exposed to first-team football.
Odegaard has scored once in six games for Castilla.
