Jean-Luc Vasseur has admitted that there was a feeling of relief when Reims recorded a 1-0 victory over Bordeaux on Friday evening.
A Julien Faubert own goal secured a surprise win for Reims, and Vasseur is hopeful that the team will receive a big boost from climbing out of the relegation zone.
"There is relief for the team. They needed that to get some confidence back," the 45-year-old, who took over in the summer, told reporters. "We saw some things there where we played with the handbrake on. We also created some good chances. Matches like that will gladden our hearts.
"For me, the club is more important than my personal situation. We didn't play too many long balls and we tried to mix things up. We need to play as a team in order to succeed."
Reims are now 13th in Ligue 1.
