Republic of Ireland coach Marco Tardelli expects to face his native Italy at Euro 2012, despite claims they may withdraw from the tournament.
Italy's domestic football has been hit by accusations of match-fixing, and national manager Cesare Prandelli has said that if it were decided that Italy should withdraw, he would support the ruling.
However, Tardelli says that he would be surprised if Republic of Ireland didn't line up against the Azzurri when the teams meet later this month.
When asked if Italy could withdraw, Tardelli said: "I don't think so. Not all of Italy is [allegedly] involved."
"Italy is very important so the players will be in Poland."
The two sides face off in the final group game of Group C on June 18.
