Republic of Ireland moved top of Group D in Euro 2016 qualifying with a 7-0 demolition of minnows Gibraltar in Dublin tonight.

Robbie Keane took his international record to 65 goals after an impressive first-half hat-trick gave the Boys in Green a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.

Martin O'Neill's side then went about their business in ruthless fashion early in the second half, finding the net four more times inside a 10-minute period to cap a morale-boosting display.

Goal

David Forde: Only had one real save to make - but it was an impressive one, tapping Joseph Chipolina's second-half header over the bar to deny Gibraltar a consolation prize. (6/10)

Defence

Stephen Ward: Dovetailed well with James McLean on the left flank but perhaps did not venture forward as much as he should have given the limited threat. (6/10)

Marc Wilson: Could have spent the night in a desolate library and it still would not have been as quiet as it was for him tonight. Good defender, but had very little to do tonight in order to prove it. (6/10)

John O'Shea: Won his 99th Republic of Ireland cap and probably should have marked it with a goal, but his header was ruled out for offside. (6/10)

David Meyler: Like Ward, Meyler could have gotten foward a lot more frequently than he did. Still, did little to nothing wrong all night. (6/10)

Midfield

Aiden McGeady: Another fine display from the Everton winger following his two-goal heroics in the win over Georgia last month. Now one of the first names on O'Neill's team sheet. (7/10)

Jeff Hendrick: Sat well in front of the back four but will have much more daunting outings. (6/10)

Darron Gibson: Guilty of overcomplicating the attack at times and guilty of playing the Hollywood ball once too often. (5/10)

James McLean: Fine performance on the left wing and deservedly bagged two goals for his troubles. He did his chances of starting in Gelsenkirchen no harm at all - and he probably will. (8/10)

Wes Hoolahan: Man of the match-winning performance from the Norwich City man, who was constantly involved throughout and will surely start against Germany. (9/10)

Attack

Robbie Keane: The veteran marksman took his international tally to 65 goals after a 17-minute hat-trick, but even he looked in a supporting role to star-of-the-show Hoolahan. (8/10)

Substitutes

Kevin Doyle: Nearly scored within seconds of replacing Hoolahan, but saw his header flash wide of the mark. (5/10)

Daryl Murphy: Industrious cameo from the Ipswich Town striker, but Ireland's attack turned flat once he and Doyle replaced Keane and Hoolahan. He never looked like scoring. (4/10)

Robbie Brady: Perhaps the only substitute to give O'Neill food for thought ahead of selecting his team to face Germany on Tuesday. (6/10)

Jordan Perez: One or two decent saves, but all seven of the goals can be traced back to soft errors by Perez, who is a full-time fireman. He caused far more damage than he prevented tonight. (2/10)

Scott Wiseman: One of only three professionals in the Gibraltar ranks, and it told. The Preston North End defender produced two goal-saving interventions. (5/10)

Ryan Casciaro: Could, and probably should, have done a lot better for the Hoolahan goal, allowing him to get past him far too easily. (4/10)

Roy Chipolina: Subbed on 58 minutes in a move that seemed to stop the rot of goals. Disappointing from the skipper in comparison to his performance against Poland. (3/10)

Joseph Chipolina: On another night might have left Dublin with a goal, after his second-half header was tipped over by Forde. (5/10)

Midfield

Aaron Payas: Sat in front of a back four that spent the best part of an hour under constant assault from the Irish. (3/10)

Brian Perez: Guilty of playing beyond his limits by playing a series of wayward over-the-top balls that lone striker Lee Casciaro lacked the pace to reach. (4/10)

Rafael Bado: Storeman in a factory back in Gibraltar, but was never going to get from box to box tonight. Subbed at half time and the visitors improved slightly. (3/10)

Liam Walker: Another professional. The Bristol Rovers midfielder showed one or two nice touches, but was completely powerless to affect the scoreline. (5/10)

Jake Gosling: Industrious performance by constantly tracking back to help out Chipolina with the problematic McGeady. (5/10)

Attack

Lee Casciaro: Totally isolated as Gibraltar's spearhead, lacking the speed or intelligence in movement to ever trouble O'Shea and Wilson in defence. (4/10)

Substitutes

Robert Guilling: Replaced Bado at the interval and the visitors slightly improved as a result of his presence in midfield. (5/10)

Yoghen Santos: Might give manager Allan Bula some food for thought ahead of the Georgia game after a decent 30-minute cameo in defence. (5/10)

Jamie Robba: Replaced the disastrous Perez between the sticks and kept a clean sheet for over half-an-hour - and produced one crucial save to deny McGeady. Far more commanding with crosses than the man he replaced. (6/10)
