Polish police have confirmed that they arrested 72 Russian football supporters prior to their side's 1-0 loss to Greece on Saturday evening.
The authorities were alerted to large groups of fans, some of which had disguises, who were hanging around the stadium in Warsaw.
"They were in tight-knit groups, with their faces covered and wearing hoods," Warsaw police spokesman Maciej Karczynski told the AFP.
"We found martial arts gloves on them, along with other equipment that could be used in a fight, mouth guards and disguises like fake moustaches and sideburns."
UEFA are yet to comment on the incident.
