Thomas Tuchel urges PSG to keep momentum going

The French side beat Manchester United earlier this week.

Paris St Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has warned his side he will not accept a Champions League hangover when they return to Ligue 1 action at St Etienne on Sunday.

PSG took a major step towards the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 2-0 win away at Manchester United on Tuesday night in one of the best results of Tuchel's reign.

They go into Sunday's game with a 10-point lead over Lille at the top of the table, as well as having two games in hand, but Tuchel does not want his side to ease up.

"It was a very good result and a very nice evening for us," Tuchel said about the United game on the PSG website.

"But it's over, you have to move on and focus on the following matches. Everyone is very happy about what happened at Old Trafford and no one more than us. But we must not lose our concentration and be well prepared for the challenges that are coming."

PSG face five domestic games before the return leg with United, starting with the clash with fourth-placed St Etienne, who ended a four game winless run with a 2-1 victory over Strasbourg in midweek.

"At a club like Paris St Germain, you always have to show a desire to win, because we want to win everything," said Tuchel. "The players who are here want to play and win too.

"Nobody here at the club, not the players or the staff, looks at the calendar and considers this or that game more or less important.

"We are here to achieve goals and we must live up to this mission every day. You have to be ready for any challenge that stands in our way."

Tuchel is likely to make changes for Sunday's match, with Marco Verratti and Presnel Kimpembe, who scored the opening goal against United, in line to be rested after only recently returning from injury. Injured forwards Neymar and Edinson Cavani are still out, as is Thomas Meunier.

St Etienne boss Jean-Louis Gasset admitted his side would be in for a tough time if PSG produced a performance like they did at Old Trafford.

"If they are like Tuesday, it will be difficult to play them," he said on the club website.
