Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League Two clash between Salford City and Bromley, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Looking to get back on track, promotion hopefuls Salford City will welcome an out-of-form Bromley to the Peninsula Stadium on Tuesday in League Two.

The Ammies come into the game without a win in their last four league matches, while the Ravens have lost four of their last five.

Match preview

Karl Robinson's Salford are aiming for a spot in the playoffs this season, and are currently three points behind seventh-placed Bradford City having taken 44 points from their 28 matches so far.

That being said, the Ammies are in the worst form of any side in the top eight and will be keen to get back to winning ways on Tuesday.

Last time out, the hosts drew 2-2 on the road to runaway league leaders Walsall, though they will be particularly disappointed to have given away a two-goal lead with just 12 minutes to play.

At the Peninsula Stadium, Robinson's side are still waiting for their first win of 2025 after two poor results – a draw against a Newport County team coming off the back of five consecutive defeats, and a 2-0 loss at the hands of Fleetwood Town.

If Salford are to avoid falling further behind their promotion rivals then they will need to take maximum points from the league's lower-ranked clubs at the very least, and a win on Tuesday could put serious pressure on Bradford.

Meanwhile, Andy Woodman's Bromley are on a six-game winless streak having lost five and drawn just one of their matches since January 2, when they beat Gillingham 3-0.

That stretch has left the Ravens 16th in League Two, with 35 points to show for their effort across their 28 fourth-tier fixtures this term.

Most recently, Woodman's side were beaten 2-0 by Grimsby Town on Saturday, and though the boss may not have expected a better result against a promotion candidate, he will be concerned that his team have now scored just one goal in their last four games.

However, it is commendable that Bromley are already 12 points ahead of 23rd-placed Morecambe – the first team in the relegation zone – considering that they were competing in the National League in 2023-24.

On the road, Tuesday's visitors have lost two and drawn one of their last three, but it is important to highlight that five of their eight league wins this season have come in away matches, and this could give them some confidence ahead of their midweek clash.

Team News

Salford are likely to be without right-sided defender Liam Shephard, who was taken off with an injury after just 11 minutes against Walsall, though his replacement, Tom Edwards, was also forced off late on.

In their absence, expect Luke Garbutt to join Stephan Negru and Curtis Tilt in the backline.

Elsewhere, the Ammies will welcome Tyrese Fornah back into the XI on Tuesday after the midfielder served a suspension last time out for his double-yellow dismissal against Newport County.

As for Bromley, Millwall loanee winger Adam Mayor made his first start for the club last time out and is likely to continue on the right flank in midweek to support duo Michael Cheek and Louis Dennis up top.

The Ravens will also have Omar Sowunmi available once again after the centre-back missed his side's loss against Grimsby due to suspension, and he should line up beside Deji Elerewe and Kamarl Grant in front of goalkeeper Grant Smith.

Salford City possible starting lineup:
Jones; Negru, Tilt, Garbutt; Warrington; Mnoga, Fornah, Watson, Longelo; Stockton, Adelakun

Bromley possible starting lineup:
Smith; Grant, Sowunmi, Elerewe; Imray, Arthurs, Thompson, Mayor; Whitely; Cheek, Dennis

We say: Salford City 2-0 Bromley

Both sides are struggling for form at the moment, but Salford will be feeling the pressure to keep up with Bradford this weekend and could be particularly motivated to put in a strong performance.

Bromley have also struggled in front of goal lately, and if the hosts score more than one then they will find it hard to recover.
