Former Sampdoria striker Vincenzo Montella has been appointed the new head coach of the Serie A club.
The 41-year-old, who scored 58 goals during his two spells with Samp, has replaced Walter Zenga in the hotseat following his sacking last week.
"Vincenzo Montella is one of us. President Massimo Ferrero and all of Sampdoria are happy to announce that Vincenzo Montella is officially the new coach of the Blucerchiati," read a statement on the club's official website.
Montella has signed a deal at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris that will expire in the summer of 2018.
