Schalke 04 have announced that former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has been appointed as the club's new head coach.
The 44-year-old was linked with numerous jobs in England after he was sacked by Chelsea in November 2012, but the coach remained under the radar.
Now, it has been confirmed by German club Schalke that Di Matteo will take charge of the team following the dismissal of Jens Keller.
Di Matteo, who won the Champions League with Chelsea, heads into his role at Schalke with the team having taken eight points from seven games.
