Schalke general manager Horst Heldt has revealed that he has spoken to Armin Veh about becoming the club's coach at the end of the season.
Veh's current contract with Eintracht Frankfurt runs out in the summer, while Jens Keller was appointed as the interim Royal Blues boss in December.
"I have a good friendship with Armin," ESPNSoccernet quotes Heldt as saying. "I would be being unreliable if I was to say we have had no contact.
"I will not deny I have asked him what his general plans are. Jens Keller is and will be our coach until the end of the season. Then we will make a decision.
"There is no deal, there are no negotiations, nothing of the sort. Veh has his own mind and has worked for the freedom to choose what he wants to do and what he doesn't."
Veh himself said that he will make his decision about his future during the international break this week.
"There will be a decision during the international break," he said.
Schalke are currently fifth in the Bundesliga.
