Schalke 04 general manager Horst Heldt has revealed that defender Benedikt Howedes snubbed offers from two foreign sides in order to remain at the club.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a number of teams in recent weeks, including Premier League duo Manchester United and Arsenal.
Despite international teammate Mesut Ozil's recent advice to make a switch to English football, Howedes now looks likely to remain in place at the Veltins-Arena.
"He had two offers from abroad. We are happy he decided to keep on playing for Schalke," The Express quotes Heldt as saying.
It is thought that Howedes had a clause written into his contract that would have allowed him to leave for £12m this summer, but that expired over the weekend.
