Schalke 04 have signed Duisburg Under-19 striker Joseph Boyamba on a three-year deal.
The 17-year-old, whose deal at the third division club was due to expire in the summer, joins the Bundesliga side with immediate effect and will remain at the Gelsenkirchen club until 2017.
Duisburg sports director Ivo Grlic said that he was sorry to see Boyamba leave, but is confident the young German can keep learning and improving his skills following his time at the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena.
He told Kicker: "Of course it's a shame and a sporting loss that he will move on now.
"But that a club like Schalke catches up with him at this time, only exemplifies the qualities that he has purchased from us."
Schalke are fifth in the Bundesliga table after picking up seven points from their last three matches.
