Darren Fletcher eyes Euro 2016 qualification

Scotland skipper Darren Fletcher expresses his desire to reach Euro 2016 ahead of their opening qualifier against world champions Germany on Sunday.

Scotland captain Darren Fletcher has set his sights on reaching Euro 2016 ahead of their opening match of the qualifying campaign.

Gordon Strachan's side face their toughest test on their road to France on Sunday night as they take on world champions Germany in Dortmund, although they go into the match having not lost for more than a year.

During the pre-match press conference, Fletcher hit out a "disrespectful" German journalist who asked him to describe the Scotland team, and warned that they were quietly confident about their chances.

"I think it a bit disrespectful that you don't know too much about the Scotland team. We have a lot of good players, I think we are well-known, a lot of us play in the Premier League, we have been on an unbeaten run of six matches and there has been a massive improvement since the manager came in," the Manchester United vice-captain told reporters.

"You know you will get 100% from all the players but I think we have a bit more than that about us. We will be respectful of Germany and expect them to have spells of possession. We have worked on what we do when we get the ball and we are going to try to be positive and try to create openings.

"We know it is going to be a difficult task, Germany are world champions, I thought they were deserving winners of the World Cup. But it is a start of a new campaign for us and we are in a good place. We want to qualify for a major competition and it starts with trying to get a result tomorrow night."

Scotland's last defeat came at the hands of Belgium exactly a year ago today.
