Russell Martin: 'Scotland can still qualify after Germany defeat'

Scotland defender Russell Martin believes that his side can still qualify for Euro 2016 after their narrow defeat by world champions Germany on Monday night.

Scotland defender Russell Martin has claimed that his side displayed enough character against Germany in their fixture on Monday night to suggest that they can still qualify for Euro 2016.

The 29-year-old believes that the team can go into their last two qualifying fixtures against Poland and Gibraltar full of confidence after their narrow 3-2 defeat to the world champions at Hampden Park.

"We have got six games to play for and we need to get the six points," Martin told the Glasgow Evening Times. "That is going to be our aim and to be in with a chance of qualifying we have to do that.

"We are more than capable of doing it. We have got to take care of the two games and tonight gives us a lot of confident going into them.

"We can be proud of the way we played. This will hurt for a while but we will meet up next month and go over the positives and take it into the next game. If we play like that in the next game, I think we will win it."

Brighton-born Martin has made 21 international appearances for Scotland.
