Gary McAllister: 'Croatia win was no fluke'

Gary McAllister believes that Scotland's 1-0 win over Croatia in Zagreb last month was no fluke.

Gary McAllister has expressed his belief that Scotland's 1-0 win over Croatia in Zagreb last month was no fluke.

Robert Snodgrass got the only goal of the game as Scotland picked up their first victory of their World Cup qualification campaign against the group's top seeds.

Despite the unexpected nature of the victory, McAllister believes that Scotland deserved to win the match and hopes that they can carry that form into next month's friendly against England at Wembley.

"It was unexpected but I've got to say I didn't think it was a fluke. You can go away from home and get bodies behind the ball and scrape a 1-0 by a fluke goal," the former Scotland captain told reporters.

"But my view of the game was that we played some good football and deserved to win. This group is gone so we just have to take the positives.

"Forget what's happened in the past and just take the good bits from the Croatia game to Wembley and take it to the qualifiers in September and October."

McAllister won 57 caps and scored five goals for Scotland during a nine-year international career.
