Euro 2024 qualifying permutations: Who can secure their place on Sunday?

:Headline: Euro 2024 qualifying permutations: Who can secure their place on Sunday?:
Sports Mole looks at which teams need to do what in order to book their place at Euro 2024 when the final round of qualifying matches begin on Sunday.
Sports Mole

The last round of Euro 2024 qualifiers begins on Sunday, with one final chance for those teams still in the mix to book a direct passage to the tournament in Germany next summer.

The lineup for the draw has already been largely completed with a game to spare for most teams, but there are five automatic qualification spots still up for grabs over the coming days.

It is the turn of Groups A, F, G and J to come to a conclusion on Sunday, and seven of the eight automatic qualification places from those pools have already been decided.

However, there is still available - between neighbours Serbia and Montenegro in Group G - and here Sports Mole rounds up exactly what they need to qualify, as well as the state of play in all of the other groups to feature on Sunday.

GROUP A

SUNDAY'S FIXTURES

Scotland vs. Norway (7.45pm)
Spain vs. Georgia (7.45pm)

PERMUTATIONS

  • Spain and Scotland have both already qualified.

  • Scotland would need to beat Norway and hope that Spain lose to Georgia to pip La Roja to top spot. If Spain draw, Scotland would need to win by nine goals to finish top.

  • GROUP F

    SUNDAY'S FIXTURES

    Belgium vs. Azerbaijan (5pm)
    Sweden vs. Estonia (5pm)

    PERMUTATIONS

  • Belgium and Austria have both already qualified.

  • Belgium will finish top of the group if they beat Azerbaijan, but if they fail to win then Austria will hold on to first place.

  • GROUP G

    SUNDAY'S FIXTURES

    Hungary vs. Montenegro (2pm)
    Serbia vs. Bulgaria (2pm)

    PERMUTATIONS

  • Hungary have already qualified for Euro 2024.

  • Serbia will join them at next summer's tournament if they avoid defeat to bottom side Bulgaria. They would also qualify if Montenegro fail to win against Hungary.

  • Montenegro must win and hope that Serbia lose to Bulgaria in order to leapfrog their neighbours on the final matchday.

  • GROUP J

    SUNDAY'S FIXTURES

    Bosnia-Herzegovina vs. Slovakia (7.45pm)
    Liechtenstein vs. Luxembourg (7.45pm)
    Portugal vs. Iceland (7.45pm)

    PERMUTATIONS

  • Portugal and Slovakia have already qualified.

  • Luxembourg and Bosnia are guaranteed a place in the playoffs, the latter due to their performance in the Nations League.
