Sevilla president Jose Castro has revealed that skipper Ivan Rakitic has agreed a new long-term contract with the Spanish outfit.
The Croatian is widely regarded as one of the best talents in La Liga, with his performances over the last couple of seasons drawing a host of interest from across Europe.
However, Castro has claimed that "a friendly agreement" has been reached between the two parties to extend the 25-year-old's deal.
"It is an important negotiation," Castro told Estadio Deportivo.
"We've already had two meetings and I believe we've come to a friendly agreement. Both Rakitic and Sevilla have made a big effort to reach this agreement.
"I don't think there will be any problems in signing the contract in the next few days, one or two details are missing, but the agreement will undoubtedly reach a good conclusion."
"The agreement is clear, we have reached an understanding. There are details to refine but they will not stop Ivan from signing a contract for the next few seasons."
Rakitic has scored 10 times in La Liga this season.
