Vicente Iborra has signed a new long-term contract with Sevilla, which will run until 2020.
The 28-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Sunderland in the latter stages of the summer transfer window, but is believed to have turned down interest from the Premier League to remain in Spain.
Iborra has since been appointed captain of the Andalusian club and in a statement on Wednesday morning, Sevilla revealed that the midfielder had penned a new contract.
The Spaniard, whose previous deal had less than two years to run, joined Sevilla from Levante in 2013 and has won three Europa League titles during his time in Seville.
