Kevin McDonald has signed a new two-year deal with Sheffield United, the club has confirmed.
The 23-year-old joined the Blades last summer after being released from his contract at Burnley.
"It has taken time to make the decision, but I think I have made the right one," the midfielder told the club's official website.
"It was good to get back playing last year and I enjoyed myself - that's one of the major reasons why I have re-signed."
United get their League One campaign underway at home to Shrewsbury on August 18.
