Southampton have confirmed that goalkeeper Fraser Forster will miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
The 27-year-old was stretchered off during his side's 2-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
Forster suffered a problem with his left knee when he cleared the ball upfield.
The shot-stopper has kept more clean sheets than any other player in the top flight this season with 13.
"We can confirm that Fraser Forster underwent successful surgery this afternoon after damaging his left patellar tendon," said a club statement. "Forster will be ruled out for the rest of the season. A long-term prediction of when he will return will be made in due course."
Southampton are back in action on April 4 when they travel to Everton in the league.
