Steven Caulker has claimed that earning a place in the England squad was on his mind when he secured a loan move to Southampton.
The 23-year-old will spend the season with the Saints after Queens Park Rangers decided to allow the central defender to return to the Premier League, and Caulker believes that regular opportunities in Ronald Koeman's side could catch the attention of Roy Hodgson.
"Loads of England players have come through here or joined here and done really well so it was a no-brainer in joining the club," he told reporters.
"It's an exciting move and one with plenty of promise and they produce a lot of good English talent which is good to see."
Caulker won his only senior England cap against Sweden in November 2012.
