"I think we worked really hard throughout the game so we deserved the result that we got and deserved everything we got out of that performance," Chambers told the club's official website.

"I think fitness is key in games like this. I think I've managed to keep my fitness up well during the season so far, which is why in the last ten minutes I was happy to keep bombing on."

Saturday's draw saw Southampton remain in eighth place in the Premier League table.
