Southampton captain Jose Fonte has revealed that he is 'still waiting' for his club to offer him a new contract.
The 32-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in the latter stages of the summer transfer window after helping Portugal win Euro 2016.
The Saints managed to keep Fonte at St Mary's, but the centre-back will be out of contract in 2018 and he has said that 'there is nothing on the table' as things stand.
"There's nothing on the table, so I'm waiting," Fonte told the Daily Echo. "I'll see what happens. I'm just focusing on performing above all and we'll see what happens. We haven't agreed anything, so it's just talks.
"There were some talks but there hasn't been for a while. Like I said, I'm focusing on my job and we'll see what happens in the future. But I'm not concerned about that, just concerned about performing and doing well for my club."
Fonte joined Southampton from Crystal Palace in 2010 and is fast closing on 300 appearances for the Saints, who he joined when the club were in League One.
