Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has claimed that new signing Jordy Clasie has all of the credentials to replace Morgan Schneiderlin in the Saints midfield.
Clasie arrived at St Mary's earlier this month as a replacement for Schneiderlin, who joined Manchester United.
Koeman has insisted that the two players are different, but believes that his new signing can fill the void left by the impressive Frenchman.
"He's a perfect replacement for Morgan in that position. I know that because I worked for three seasons with Jordy," Koeman told Sky Sports News.
"Of course, he's still not Schneiderlin - but he's still young, he has to develop, he has to adapt to the Premier League, the intensity is what you need. It's a great signing."
Clasie made his Saints debut in Saturday's 3-0 friendly win over Groningen.
