Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has insisted that centre-back Virgil van Dijk will improve in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old joined the Saints from Celtic last month, scoring his first goal for the club in his side's 3-1 victory over Swansea City on Saturday, and Koeman believes that Van Dijk has the attributes to be a success at St Mary's.
"One of his qualities is he is a good header of the ball," Koeman is quoted as saying by the Glasgow Evening Times. "He is also defensively strong and his personality is important for the team.
"He's only 24, it's his first season in the Premier League and he will get better."
Van Dijk made 114 appearances for Celtic, scoring 15 goals.
