Southampton striker Rickie Lambert revealed his delight following the club's 4-1 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.
The 30-year-old, who scored a double against Villa, also claimed that a half-time team talk from Nigel Adkins inspired the side.
"It's a good mood in the dressing room, the lads are buzzing. We've been desperate to get some points on the board. At half-time Nigel Adkins told us certain things were unacceptable but we still believed we could win the game," he told reporters.
"The goals today actually meant something and we managed to get the win, that's what matters in the end."
Lambert has scored four league goals this season.
