Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino has said that his side deserved their 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at St Mary's this afternoon.
The Saints looked like playing out a dull stalemate against the Baggies until Sofiane Boufal came off the bench to light the match up with a memorable solo strike that saw him carry the ball from deep inside his own half before sliding it home.
Pellegrino acknowledged that the introduction of Boufal changed the game, but believes that his side were dominating proceedings even before the Moroccan midfielder was needed off the bench.
"I think it was a beautiful goal, one of the most beautiful goals of this season," he told reporters.
"It changed the game because it was a difficult game, but the most important thing was we deserved the win. We were better than them in my opinion and we dominated the game. I am happy for Sofiane."
The win is Southampton's first at home since August and lifts them back into the top half of the Premier League table.
