Ronald Koeman has revealed that he will "expect a reaction" from Southampton following their exit from the League Cup earlier this week.
The Saints slipped to their third defeat in all competitions as Liverpool claimed an emphatic 6-1 win in the quarter-finals at St Mary's.
Ahead of his side's match against Aston Villa in the Premier League, the manager told reporters: "I expect a reaction tomorrow. That is the most important, everyone knows what we have to do. We all want to have that stable organisation in defence.
"It was one difficult night and the next day was difficult. As a manager I have to analyse the game about how it is possible to concede six goals.
"They are not stupid, they know what they need to do better and it is good that after Wednesday we can show a reaction."
Southampton sit 10th in the table.
