Southampton have confirmed that they have appealed the red card issued to Sadio Mane in the dying moments of their victory at Stoke City on Saturday.
Referee Lee Mason issued a straight red to the striker for his mid-air challenge on Erik Pieters, with manager Ronald Koeman later outlining his intention to complain about the decision.
"The red card is a big mistake of the referee or maybe of the fourth referee or maybe the linesman," Koeman told the BBC at the time.
"Sadio is trying to put his head to the ball. Even Pieters told me afterwards there was nothing."
Koeman's Stoke counterpart Mark Hughes agreed that the decision was wrong, admitting that he was "as surprised as anybody" by Mason's decision.
