Southampton saw their five-match winning streak in all competitions come to an end this evening as they played out a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

Gabriel Agbonlahor gave the hosts the lead when he pounced on a defensive error, but Nathaniel Clyne rescued a point for the Saints with a late equaliser.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at who impressed at Villa Park.

ASTON VILLA

Goal

Brad Guzan: Could do nothing about Clyne's equaliser, but did make a fine save to deny Mane's low curling effort in the first half. (7/10)

Defence

Alan Hutton: Dealt with the threat of Mane effectively and helped to keep Southampton quiet in the final third for the vast majority of the match. (7/10)

Jores Okore: Commanding performance on his return to the side after more than a year out. Ensured that the absences of Vlaar and Senderos went unnoticed. (7/10)

Ciaran Clark: Made a string of fine clearances when his side came under the cosh in the closing stages and generally controlled the defence well. Marked Pelle out of the game for long periods. (7/10)

Aly Cissokho: Solid performance from the left-back. Did his job both in defence and going forward, but didn't do much more than that. (6/10)

Midfield

Tom Cleverley: Needed to work hard in the middle of the park and did so. Spent much of his time chasing the ball, but helped to protect his defence well. (6/10)

Ashley Westwood: Much like Cleverley, most of his work came off the ball as Villa stayed compact and prevented Southampton from playing through them in midfield. (6/10)

Carlos Sanchez: Joined his midfield partners in protecting the back four, breaking up Southampton attacks and stifling the visitors in the middle of the park. (6/10)

Charles N'Zogbia: Anonymous for long periods before he was taken off just after the hour mark. A quiet and ineffective display. (5/10)

Attack

Gabriel Agbonlahor: Always provides a threat on the break and proved that by chasing down a nothing long ball forward, causing panic in the Southampton defence and netting his side's goal as a result. (7/10)

Andreas Weimann: Made a good break forward on the counter-attack but couldn't finish it off as he skied his eventual effort over the bar. (6/10)

Substitutes

Kieran Richardson: Replaced N'Zogbia in the 64th minute and didn't add much more to the game than the departed winger. (6/10)

Darren Bent: Was a surprise attacking change by Lambert, but failed to have an impact on the game during his 15-minute cameo. (6/10)

SOUTHAMPTON

Goal

Fraser Forster: Was at fault for the Villa goal as he hesitated before charging off his line and being beaten to the ball by Agbonlahor. Barely had anything else to do, but that was a costly error. (5/10)

Defence

Nathaniel Clyne: Got the crucial equaliser with a well-taken finish on one of his trips forward. He was always an outlet on the right wing, but his delivery was disappointing at times. (7/10)

Jose Fonte: Composed at the back once again. Was rarely tested by Villa's attack so most of his action came when he was in possession himself. (7/10)

Toby Alderweireld: Partly responsible for the Villa goal having failed to match or at least block Agbonlahor's run, allowing Forster more time to clear it. Was solid other than that, though. (6/10)

Ryan Bertrand: Didn't need persuading to get forward but, like Clyne, his delivery could have been better. Did supply the cross from which Southampton got their equaliser, though. (7/10)

Midfield

Victor Wanyama: Helped Southampton keep the ball well in midfield and broke up a number of Villa attacks. However, couldn't make a really telling impact on the game. (6/10)

Morgan Schneiderlin: Pulled most of the strings for Southampton from a deeper role, spreading the play with a number of impressive long passes. (7/10)

Dusan Tadic: Looked as likely as anyone to find a way through for Southampton, but ultimately couldn't link up with Pelle effectively enough. (6/10)

Shane Long: Was ineffective in behind Pelle during the first half, and didn't have much more of an impact once he was moved to the right in the second. A quiet game for the Irishman. (5/10)

Sadio Mane: Drew a fine fingertip stop out of Guzan in the first half, but otherwise got very little joy out of Hutton before being replaced with 10 minutes remaining. (6/10)

Attack

Graziano Pelle: Was anonymous for large spells, due in part to the lack of service provided to him. Was crowded out by Villa, resulting in one of his quietest games yet for Southampton. (5/10)

Substitutes

Emmanuel Mayuka: Came on for Mane with just over 10 minutes left but had very little impact during his time on the field. (6/10)

Jack Cork: Replaced Long in the closing stages and did not have time to make an impression. (6/10)
