Tottenham Hotspur come from 2-0 behind to beat Southampton 3-2 at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur came from 2-0 down to beat Southampton 3-2 at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Saints boasted a two-goal lead after 28 minutes through James Rodriguez and Adam Lallana, but a Christian Eriksen double and a late strike from Gylfi Sigurdsson ensured that the home side secured all the points.

The visitors had the ball in the back of the net after nine minutes when Rodriguez converted from close range, but the offside flag had been raised.

Rodriguez did not have to wait long for a goal to arrive, however, with the England international slotting into the bottom corner after 19 minutes.

Lallana had another chance for the away team after 24 minutes, but his effort was straight into the arms of Hugo Lloris. Moments later, Luke Shaw had an effort deflected just wide of the Spurs post.

Southampton had their second just before the half-hour mark, however, when Lallana found some space inside the box and slotted his effort into the bottom corner.

The home side were level after 31 minutes, however, when Eriksen struck home from close range. Both sides had chances in the latter stages of the half - including opportunities for Lallana and Eriksen at either end - but Southampton remained 2-1 ahead at the interval.

Spurs were level in the early stages of the second period when Roberto Soldado teed up Eriksen, who converted his second of the match from close range.

The hosts continued to press and came close once more on 55 minutes, but Nacer Chadli's low effort was pushed wide of the post by Artur Boruc.

Eriksen had another opportunity for Spurs after 68 minutes, but his effort was deflected high and wide of the crossbar by Calum Chambers.

The 22-year-old turned provider for Soldado after 75 minutes, but the Spanish striker could not make contact inside the box.

Southampton's best chance of the second half came to Rickie Lambert 10 minutes from time, but the England forward could only head over the crossbar from close range.

Lambert had another chance in the latter stages, but saw his effort whistle wide of the post.

Spurs completed the turnaround in the final moments, however, as Sigurdsson struck his shot into the bottom corner from distance.
