Southampton players 'expecting Ralph Hasenhuttl to be sacked'

Southampton's players are expecting manager Ralph Hasenhuttl to be sacked following a poor start to the season, according to a report.

Southampton's players have reportedly expressed the feeling that manager Ralph Hasenhuttl could soon be sacked.

The Saints have not won any of their opening seven Premier League matches of the season and sit one point above the relegation zone in 17th place.

Before the international break, the south coast side lost back-to-back games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and league leaders Chelsea.

Football Insider claims that a dressing room source at the club says that there is a "strong feeling" among players that Hasenhuttl is not far away from facing the sack.

The report adds that former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe would be keen on taking over from the Austrian, having also been linked to the Newcastle United job.

Hasenhuttl has been at Southampton since December 2018 and has led the club to 16th, 11th and 15th place finishes in the Premier League.
