Feyenoord have completed the signing of Dutch winger Eljero Elia.
The 28-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Southampton from Werder Bremen and there had been suggestions that he could make a permanent switch to the South Coast.
However, a move never materialised and he has instead agreed a two-year contract with the Eredivisie outfit.
"Eljero has expressly chosen to take the sporting challenge at Feyenoord," technical director Martin van Geel told the club's official website.
"In recent years he has played at big clubs in major European leagues. With that experience and his qualities he will certainly be able to help our team progress. We are delighted that Eljero has chosen Feyenoord."
Elia scored two goals during his 16 outings for the Saints.
