Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has revealed that he hopes to bring in reinforcements during the January transfer window.
The Saints stormed to the elite spots of the Premier League table after winning nine in 10 matches, but have suffered two defeats in a row against Manchester City and Arsenal.
Southampton are now under pressure to maintain their top-four spot following injuries to Morgan Schneiderlin, Jack Cork and Toby Alderweireld.
"A lot of midfielders are injured and that creates a lot of problems," Koeman told BBC Radio Solent. "I will speak to the board about what we need and what we would like to do.
"You have to be prepared every game and you can't play on 70%. You have to be 100% and that's difficult for us, because we need everybody to be fit. We don't have the numbers and players that the big teams have, and that's difficult."
The Saints currently reside third in the table, 10 points behind leaders Chelsea.
