Southampton are believed to have had a £12m bid accepted for Hull City striker Shane Long.
The Saints have reportedly agreed to pay £4.5m more than Hull spent on the Republic of Ireland international only six months ago to land one of their top targets.
Manager Ronald Koeman is keen to partner the 27-year-old with fellow summer signing Graziano Pelle, having failed to persuade Manchester United's Javier Hernandez to sacrifice European football.
The Mirror claims that Long will become Koeman's sixth signing of the transfer window as the Dutchman looks to rebuild a squad that has been decimated by a quintet of high-profile departures.
Long scored four goals in 15 games for the Tigers after arriving from West Bromwich Albion in January.
