Caen youngster Yann Karamoh has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Southampton.
Last month, both West Ham United and RB Leipzig were linked with a move for the 18-year-old, who has been labelled as the 'new Kylian Mbappe'.
However, according to The Sun, Southampton are ready to enter the running for the attacker, who has just a year remaining on his current contract.
It has been suggested that Karamoh has been advised to wait out the remaining 12 months of his existing deal in order to give himself more options next summer, but it appears that a number of clubs are willing to sign him ahead of next season.
Caen are happy to sell Karamoh, who contributed five goals and four assists in 35 appearances in Ligue 1 during the last campaign.
A fee of £8.75m may be enough to push through a deal should Caen maintain their current stance and Karamoh opt to move to another club.
