Spain Under-21s boss Albert Celades has paid tribute to his team after Friday's 1-0 win over Serbia Under-21s booked their spot in the semi-finals of the Under-21 European Championships with a 100% record.
Spain overcame Macedonia and Portugal before finishing with a one-goal victory over Serbia, and Celades has said that his team 'are happy with what they are doing' ahead of next week's semi-final with Italy.
"We're happy with what we're doing. Winning three games in this final phase is difficult and asks a lot of you. Portugal are a great team and have been eliminated," Celades told reporters.
"We played well in spells, but after they went a man down, they asked a little more of us. We've been able to give players the opportunity to play. It's important in terms of managing the group.
"Given the group we were in, we thought about taking it game by game. We first had to put our minds on Macedonia, knowing that we were going to play Portugal after them and without thinking that we could qualify before the game against Serbia."
Germany Under-21s will take on England Under-21s in the other semi-final.
