Spain thrash Tahiti in the Confederations Cup, with David Villa and Fernando Torres both netting hat-tricks.

Spain have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Confederations Cup with a 10-0 win over Tahiti.

Four goals from Fernando Torres and a hat-trick from David Villa helped Spain on their way to an emphatic win against the minnows.

It took just six minutes for Spain to take the lead, when Torres broke through the offside trap to cut inside and fire past the goalkeeper at his near post.

Tahiti continued to play with a dangerously high line throughout the first half but somehow managed to hold out for half-an-hour, thanks largely to the wastefulness of Torres and Villa.

In the 35th minute, Spain finally doubled their lead. Villa picked out David Silva, who made no mistake from close range, opening the floodgates.

A minute later it was three as Torres got his second of the game, before Villa got on the score sheet himself, finishing well from Silva's cross.

Five minutes into the second half, Villa scored again, tapping in from close range after Nacho Monreal's pull-back.

Torres completed his hat-trick soon after, with an easy finish after good work on the right from new Manchester City man Jesus Navas.

His strike-partner joined him on three after a mistake from the goalkeeper, who lost his footing as he was being chased down by Villa, allowing the Barcelona man to make it seven.

Juan Mata had just enough time to get amongst the goals before being substituted with 20 minutes to go, firing home after Silva's pass deflected into his path.

Torres smashed a penalty against the crossbar with 10 minutes to go, but pounced on a rebound with Spain back on the attack moments later, to get his fourth of the night.

Silva then got his second of the night to take the score into double figures in the final minute, smashing the ball into the corner after it fell to him in the box.
