Spain winger Jesus Navas has leapt to the defence of his coach Vicente Del Bosque.
The veteran boss received some criticism for the side that he selected during Sunday's 1-1 draw with Italy, which did not include a striker until Fernando Torres's introduction 18 minutes from time.
Despite failing to win the game, Sevilla midfielder Navas believes that his coach's decision to begin the encounter without a centre-forward was a "good one".
"There are many opinions regarding his selection but I think the coach's decision was a good one," Navas told reporters.
"The coach always chooses a lineup to win a game and in this case, things went well for us. But we also have other alternatives."
Navas featured as a substitute against the Italians.
