Spain striker Fernando Torres has played down talk that he should have started against Italy in the Group C opener of Euro 2012.
Vicente Del Bosque did not select a recognised striker for the clash with the Azzurri, instead choosing Cesc Fabregas to play in an advanced role from midfield.
Torres started in tonight's 4-0 win over the Republic of Ireland, scoring two goals.
"The debate about a number nine will continue," said Torres. "This system worked today and worked the other day with Cesc.
"The good thing is Spain have many players who can fill many positions."
Spain's final game sees them take on Croatia on Monday.
