Vicente del Bosque to consider Spain future

Spain manager Vicente del Bosque, who has won the World Cup and European Championships with the team, admits that his future is uncertain following their Euro 2016 exit.

Spain manager Vicente del Bosque has admitted that his future is uncertain following his side's Euro 2016 exit at the hands of Italy.

The defending champions saw their title defence ended at the last-16 stage on Monday courtesy of a 2-0 defeat to Italy - Spain's second early elimination from a major tournament in a row following their group-stage exit from the World Cup.

Del Bosque, who has steered his side to World Cup and European Championship glory, does not believe that Spain's golden era is over yet, but hinted that he may not be in charge to oversee the recovery.

"I must speak to the [Spanish federation] president. We must do what is best for Spanish football," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"I don't think an era has ended. Spanish football is very well structured. There are good academies, very good players and very good clubs."

Del Bosque, who offered to resign following the 2014 World Cup, has previously hinted that he would retire after this summer's tournament.
