Chelsea striker Fernando Torres will play no part in Spain's international fixture against Venezuela after he was axed from the squad by manager Vicente del Bosque.
The former Liverpool frontman has had a torrid year at Stamford Bridge following his £50m move from Merseyside, adding just five goals to his tally in a Blues shirt.
With an international squad full of talent, Bosque has decided to drop the 27-year-old along with Barcelona's Pedro.
"He is a lad we appreciate a great deal and it pains me to leave him out but I wanted to be fair," Del Bosque said in a press conference.
Torres scored just one goal in seven appearances for Spain last year.
