Sporting Lisbon president Frederico Varandas has rubbished reports that Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached an agreement for midfielder Joao Palhinha.
The 24-year-old, who has spent the past two seasons on loan at Braga, was understood to be nearing a move to Molineux after the Premier League side had allegedly agreed a deal in principle for the midfielder.
However, Varandas has since brushed off speculation linking Palhinha with an exit from Sporting and claims that there has not been any contact between the two parties.
"This is completely false. Nothing. One talks, but let me finish and say that a lot of the investment made in the academy was to retain this talent," Varandas told Canal 11.
Palhinha has appeared 35 times for Braga across all competitions this season, and the midfielder has already faced off against Wolves in the Europa League group stage.
