England boss Roy Hodgson says that Harry Kane has the opportunity to impress, with captain Wayne Rooney ruled out of the next two games.

England manager Roy Hodgson has stated that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has the opportunity to impress, with captain Wayne Rooney ruled out of the team's next two games.

The Manchester United man will miss the final two Euro 2016 qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania due to an ankle injury.

Kane has scored three goals in his four England appearances to date, and Hodgson has said that he is pleased the 22-year-old will get his chance to lead the line.

"This is a big opportunity for him," FourFourTwo quotes Hodgson as saying.

"He has waited a long time for his chance, not least through the Under-21 championship, but when he got his chance he scored with his first touch.

"It is now, this autumn, that we have him exclusively to ourselves. We believed in him. He has got a good career ahead of him, so it is a nice he will get an opportunity. With Wayne out, he is in pole position."

England, who have already qualified for next summer's Euros in France, play Estonia at Wembley this evening before travelling to Lithuania on Monday.
