Roy Hodgson "very happy" with Harry Kane progress

England manager Roy Hodgson refuses to reveal whether he will hand Harry Kane a starting spot against Lithuania in tomorrow's Euro 2016 qualifier.

Roy Hodgson has admitted that he has been delighted by what he has seen from Harry Kane in England training this week, but has refused to reveal whether he will start against Lithuania.

Photographs emerged earlier this week of the Three Lions boss holding a sheet of paper which appeared to have the in-form Tottenham Hotspur forward paired with Wayne Rooney up front.

Hodgson has since played down rumours that Kane will start in the Euro 2016 qualification clash at Wembley, although he has this afternoon all but confirmed that the youngster will feature in next week's friendly against Italy if he does miss out against Lithuania.

"We are very happy with Harry Kane," he told reporters. "He has done well all week, and has not in any way damaged his chances of playing in the full senior team.

"I'm pretty sure over the course of these two games he will make his full debut, but I'm not prepared to give my selection away and when that is people will have to wait and see."

Kane has scored 29 goals in all competitions for Spurs this season, including his first senior hat-trick against Leicester City last time out in the Premier League.
