Tottenham Hotspur's Ben Davies 'out for up to six weeks with hamstring injury'

:Headline: Tottenham Hotspur's Ben Davies 'out for up to six weeks with hamstring injury':
Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies is ruled out for between four and six weeks with a hamstring injury, according to a report.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies is reportedly facing up to six weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

The Wales international sustained the problem during last weekend's 3-3 draw with Southampton, where he was one of four players withdrawn before half time.

Richarlison, Jan Bednarek and Armel Bella-Kotchap were also casualties of that injury-riddled match alongside Davies, who pulled out Wales' Euro 2024 qualifiers with Croatia and Latvia as a result.

Tottenham are yet to give an official update on the 29-year-old's injury, but the Lilywhites will seemingly have to cope without the defensive stalwart during the business end of the season in a major blow to their Champions League hopes.

According to football.london, Davies will spend at least four and potentially as many as six weeks on the sidelines recovering from his hamstring issue, further restricting Antonio Conte's options on the left.

Davies has been a regular fixture of the Tottenham XI under Conte, featuring on the left of a back three or as a left-wing back for the Lilywhites during the Italian's reign.

The former Swansea City man has scored two goals and set up two more in 25 Premier League appearances this season, and he was rewarded with a new contract until 2025 last summer.

Davies joins a lengthy list of injured Tottenham players, with fellow left-wing back Ryan Sessegnon also missing several weeks of action due to his latest hamstring problem.

There is hope that Sessegnon, who has been plagued by several fitness issues at Tottenham, can return immediately after the international break, although Emerson Royal could potentially cover for Ivan Perisic on the left.

Meanwhile, Conte has been left with Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, Clement Lenglet and Davinson Sanchez as his central options in front of Fraser Forster, who continues to deputise for Hugo Lloris as the Frenchman works his way back from a knee injury.

Rodrigo Bentancur is already confirmed to be missing the rest of the season following ACL surgery, and it is unclear if Yves Bissouma will play again this season after going under the knife to treat a stress fracture to his ankle.

The knock that Richarlison suffered at St Mary's - which left him in tears - has forced the attacker out of Brazil's upcoming clash with Morocco, but no timeframe has been placed on his recovery.

Should Davies miss a full six weeks, the defender will sit out a pivotal period of fixtures in April, as Spurs prepare to meet top-four rivals Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United in the next few weeks.

Whether Conte will still be in the dugout for those games remains to be seen, as the Italian is now expected to be sacked in the wake of his explosive post-match rant towards his players last weekend.

Tottenham remain fourth in the Premier League table - albeit just two points clear of Newcastle having played two games more - and their first game back after the international break comes away to Everton on April 3. body check tags ::
